Interviews — things we did last week. Our idea is around career coaching. Hence, our interview was with the goal of finding problems in that space. These are the takeaways from talking to people.

First, everyone has a different career situation, and, accordingly, the career challenge. The customer’s life situation may affect how one makes career decision and perceive the challenge. A married person usually makes more consideration on the family when one makes career decision. A fresh graduate cares more about surviving the early career phase. An experienced professional faces different challenges.

Second, people have their own way of solving the problems. Some solve them alone. Some need outside help. The outside help varies, from mentoring to coaching. Sometimes the line becomes blurry when one talks about the two concepts without having prior information about them. Awareness matters.

What to do with all the findings? Analyze them. Learn from them. See if they validate any of our hypotheses. If not, keep talking to people. See if anything new comes up, or pattern. Interviewing people to understand the problem(s) we are trying to solve is not easy, but it is rewarding. That really showed us that making a startup requires a lot of perseverance.
